Death and the Afterlife

Chris asked me something VERY intriguing; what do I think about death and what happens once we're dead?

Well, I personally have no religious belief. Religion is dictating how you handle your life and I can't let anyone tell me how to handle my life. I don't care what others believe but me, myself, and I prefer to stay AWAY from religion. 0.0

Now that we've said that, the topic moves to DEATH. I am a VERY dismal person but all in all? Death is really beautiful. Of course, when you're spontaneously combusting... it's not that beautiful... but overall, it's a gorgeous work of nature. (I was going to say of life, but that's really... not correct, and very oximoronic.)

But you see, death isn't the most interesting thing. It's what goes on AFTER we're dead that catches my attention, personally. I've got a couple of theories but I don't want to be here for three hours while I type them all out; I've got a life too, ya know, and it IS getting late.
I always wondered when I was a tiny little punk girl in rockstar pajamas (don't be judging me, now) if I would be aware of being dead. Can you imagine just floating in a sea of conscious blackness? That's what I thought of it as.
Now I lean more towards reincarnation. I don't believe in Heaven, obviously, or Hell. I think we keep coming back to this messed up place until our spirits can't take it anymore. I don't know what the heck's gonna happen after that.
Does anyone? TT-TT

I really enjoyed answering this question. Gave me some food for thought when I realized I didn't know WHAT to think about some aspects of this.

Perhaps I can find myself some answers while drowning in death metal. >=]

Whatsername, that is possibly the best answer I've ever gotten to that question. We have a very similar view I think, and I would love to sit down and have a long philosophical conversation with you sometime, you sound like you've got some great things to say :)

Well, thank you very much. It would be nice to sit down and have a long, deep, philosophical converstation with people but this is the only way I'm contacting people for now. :) Thanks for the question; I'd love it if you told people about me!

I'll be sure to do just that! Facebook, here I come! :D

Ooh, thanks! :) I'm going to create a Facebook page for this sooner or later, when I get around to it, so maybe people will see that I exist then... O.O Yeah, anyways, thanks so much. Great to hear from you!

We're going to reverse roles here for a second. ;) What do YOU think about death and what goes on after it, eh?

Ah okay, sorry I didn't reply, I didn't see yours. Well, I'm personally Agnostic, and I don't believe in a Heaven or Hell. I like to believe in reincarnation, because to me it's the most plausible. Think about it: Every human bodily and sensory function is controlled by energy. Pure energy flowing through us like electricity to make us work. So when we die, where does all that energy go? It can' just sit around gathering dust, it *has* to move. So, the way I see it, when a human dies, his or her energy must find another outlet, another non-living body to *give* life to. Ergo, reincarnation. I like to attribute the Soul as having those same basic instincts, so therefore the Soul must find another outlet, another home. Ergo, reincarnation of the soul. :)

P.S. I'm not personally afraid of death or dying. I'm afraid of what happens *after* death, because nobody knows.

A couple of things. :)

1. Get published. A philosophy book by you would save the world from chaos every say. You've got great ideas. I never thought of reincarntion like that!

2. Agnostic. Good for you!! :)

3. Afraid of the afterlife. I think the two biggest fears for people are living and going beyond death. Make that three and add clowns. O.o But anyways, you bring up some good points here. I am terrifies of what lies beyond death because it is unknown. It's like in a spooky maze. You never know what's going to scare the pants off you around which corner.
